MONICA LIMA
Cello Teacher
Monica grew up in Brazil and started her music education at nine years old.
Monica has a special interest in traveling and has lived in different countries to further her cello studies and broad her cello pedagogy.
In Spain, Monica obtained her Professional Title of Music with Specialisation in Cello at the Irun Music Conservatorium, under the tutelage of Inaki Etxepare. It was Inaki who inspired her to become a cello teacher to the young generations.
Since then, Monica has dedicated her life to teaching and have taken continuous teacher training in the United Kingdom, United States, Brazil, Peru and Australia.
During her teaching career in Brazil, she was invited to teach at Music Festivals around the country and had an important role translating articles and adapting the pre-twinkle cello repertoire to portuguese.
In 2014, Monica attended the Suzuki Conference in Minneapolis (USA) and presented the research “Teaching Cello in Latin America and the Importance of the Suzuki Method in the Process”, alongside teacher trainer Patricia Pasmanter.
In Australia since 2017, Monica is constantly invited to teach in Workshops, Music Camps and Suzuki Festivals organised by the Suzuki Talent Education Association of Australia.
Monica is an accredited Suzuki teacher and follows the AMEB syllabus for students seeking to enter examinations. Monica is a member of the Australian Strings Association (AUSTA) & Music Teachers’ Association of NSW (MTA).
Monica is always looking for ways to make learning cello incredibly fun and loves creating printables for cello students. She is the author of a Cello Workbook and a Scales For Beginners book. You can find more about her creative resources here.
She performs on a regular basis with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Northern Beaches Orchestra.

“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.” Shinichi Suzuki
