“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.” –Shinichi Suzuki

TESTIMONIALS

Warm, Kind & Great Musician
Michelle H.

My journey of cello, from an absolute beginner as an adult. I have taken cello lessons from Monica for the last three years. Monica is warm, kind, pleasant, full depth of music knowledge, great musician, and she has given me customized attention that I needed. It has been so wonderful learning process under Monica's instructions and inspiration. With Monica I know that I only improve and get better with my cello. Thank you Monica for all your support.

Highly trained, Exacting but Sensitive Teacher
Sushila C.

We came to Monica because she follows the Suzuki method of lessons. She has studied music, studied Suzuki teaching, and continues regular professional development. We stay with Monica because she is energetic, kind, musical, attentive, caring, focused, and passionate about music, playing the cello, and offering these to her students. Monica makes learning the cello fun! Her studio and her cello get decorated for special events. There are new challenges for students to aspire to, and creative ideas to engage students, drawing out hard work and musical results in a way that doesn't seem like work. Being part of Monica's cello studio involves regular group lessons and recitals. The recitals allow the students the opportunity to show off, and feel pleased with, all they've achieved. And more! Group lessons build a sense of community between Monica's students, through games and light hearted competition. But make no mistake - what the students consider to be nonsense games each develop skills and techniques relevant for playing the cello. My experience of my son's lessons with Monica is that she is a highly trained, exacting but sensitive teacher, who interacts tenderly but firmly with her student, resulting in happy, hard working, beautiful musicians.

Monica is a very attentive, patient and efficient teacher. I was nervous about starting to play a new instrument but within a couple of classes Monica helped me maintain a can do attitude with plenty of practice to help develop my skills. No ordinary teacher
Dr. Gloria S Wright, PhD, Speaker, musician, coach and author, '80 Activities for a Bright Baby'

When I visited Monica's music class for toddlers, I was immediately drawn in to infectious enthusiasm, wonderful smile and well thought out progressive approach for little people. I have seen literally thousands of teachers in action. It was immediately clear to me that Monica is no ordinary teacher - she blends her depth of knowledge with her genuine enthusiasm to spark a love of music in people, and little children in particular. I highly recommend Monica as a brilliant teacher and a delightful person wrapped into one dynamic lady!
